It seemed remarkable as it didn't look like any shooting star or object we had ever seen.
My grown son and I often sit outside on the patio talking until dark. Our neighborhood is rather rural. The event we witnessed appeared in the lower southern sky (about 30 degrees from the horizon) at about sunset, traveling very quickly east to west, silent and very bright. It could be described as a streak of light with a sparkly tail and disappeared behind low clouds or vanished after viewing for perhaps only 5 seconds.
