2003-10-20 - Fort Campbell, KY - Fireball

Goldish fireball with green tail in Kentucky/Tennessee

My first officer and I were flying just north of Ft. Campbell at 17,000 feet, when we saw a goldish-white fireball with a green tail fall from the sky and "burn out" or disappear in front of our airplane. I said, "What was that?" He said, "That was a falling star." Me: "That was NOT a falling star. They're probably shooting at us." We laughed and didn't think anything more of it until I saw the report on the internet about Raleigh. Sounds like the same thing. I've seen a lot of falling stars and they've all been white fireballs. I'm not convinced of UFOs, but this was definitely not normal.
