Falling star?

I was out on my back porch last night, close to the intersection of Fillmore and Union. I was looking around like I usually do at night in hopes that I can see...something new. I noticed a light far off in the distance. It appeared to be right above a mountain peak ( which I have not yet determined the mountain) which was between Ft. Carson and the closest mountain by Hwy. 24 headed west. At first I thought it was just a star...but when I looked back no more than 1 minutes later, it had descended towards the top of the mountain...slowly but YES, it had moved. I thought not to much of it Yet... I continued my "gazing" around the sky. The next time I turned and looked at my "star" it was gone. I assume it either "landed" or impacted the mountain, or simply gone behind it. While this could have been a star, I have never noticed a "star" to move that distance in such a short time... I cant explain it...nor can I explain the fire balls me and my friend have seen near Ft. Carson before either... Thats another sighting though...
