2003-08-31 - Ajijic (Mexico) - Sphere

We observed a red and bright white sphere for some 45 seconds, travelling rapidly in an arc from WSW to NE, below medium cloud cover.

At about 10pm we were enjoying our outdoor jacuzzi when we saw a red light appearing from the WSW. At first we thought that it was a low-flying aircraft nav light, but as it approached - quite rapidly in an arc flight path below a moderate cloud cover - it became evident that it was no aircraft. No navigation lights, no strobe lights, no green starboard light. We turned off the music system and the jacuzzi pump to listen for any engine noises. There were none. We live in a rural area where there is very little noise at night - no traffic noise at all at that time.

As it approached, the red light took on a ball shape with a steady, bright white light emitted, along with the red light. We watched it disappear beyond our house roof in a NE'ly direction, always maintaining a steady, rapid flight, covering the arc of about 100 degrees in an estimated 45 seconds.

I am a retired oil executive and my wife who also saw the entire event is a business administrator.
