2002-07-23 - Outer Banks, NC - Light

07/23/02 - Outer Banks, NC - red light

While on the beach, my brother-in-law saw a red light about 1 mile south of us but on coast line (single witness). About 1 hour later he saw the light again just south east of us but closer (single witness). About 15 minutes later we both saw same light northeast of us (2 witnesses). Another 15 minutes later saw light for the final time (at 21:50) again southeast with single red "flash" then splitting into two "flashes" then into three "flashes" (6 witnesses, myself included).

(each "flash", being it's own separate light and occuring for approx. 5-10 seconds and was over the ocean. My brother-in-law saw every occurance, including seeing these lights the night before approx. same time at night.) We all looked for these lights the next two nights and didn't see anything however it was cloudy.
