A very eloquest and mature-sounding woman reports hearing and seeing a peculiar event over the Columbia River in north Portland.
She reports that she was driving east on North Marine drive at approximately 1400 hrs. on Saturday afternoon, 28AO01, when she heard a "sharp" explosion to her left. She glanced to the left, and witnessed a "fireball" in the daytime sky, 90 degrees to the left of her direction of travel, and approximately 45 degrees above the horizontal plane.
As she continued driving to the east, she witnessed a cloud of dark smoke in the area of the sky where the fireball had been just seconds earlier.
She called Multnomah County authorities, but no one had received any reports of an accident, explosion, fire, or any other emergency.
