A bright orange light appeared high in the sky while camping at Alamo Lake State Park. Within minutes we heard the sound of non commercial jet aircraft over the area.
While camping at Alamo Lake State Park last Wednesday night (04-12-00) at ~ 9:45 pm I witnessed a bright orange light high in the northern sky. At about 8:30 pm my brother also spotted a very similar light in the sky. The only practical assumption we made was that they had to be the burners to hot air balloons. But hot air balloons usually only take off in the dense cold air, not in hot air. Furthermore, the solid angle of the light was too large to be a hot air balloon so far away.
