Traveling along a main road on Ft Lewis I noticed from the north a air craft was traveling just above ground level about a half mile away. The object picked up speed and seemed to gain altitude gradually flying east to west. It continued to gain altitude and then banked south and flew off in the distance. This all took place over about 3min. The object did have blinking 3 blinking lights on it and it did make a steady rumbling sound.
