1998-05-15 - Fort Campbell, KY - Circle

Object spotted over Ft Campbell Ky.

I’m not sure if you’d be interested in an old report, but if you are this is what happened to me.

In May 1998 I was assigned to the 3/187 Air Assault infantry at Ft. Campbell Ky. It was 7:30am and I was to be the NCO in charge of a range maintenance crew going out to mow and weed eat some of the ranges on post.

I was standing outside of the main range building in the parking lot smoking and noticed a flickering white light drop down out of the low ceiling (500ft) heavy grey clouds. The object moved slowly and silently as if taking a peek from the cloud cover. The object was within 500 meters of where I was standing and never made a noise. It dipped down for about 10 seconds the slowly went back up into the thick grey clouds.

I was in the army for 15 total years and been around many army aircraft, I know how helicopters and prop, jet aircraft sound. This object made zero sound.

The best way I can describe the flickering light I saw was if you have a circle with 2 white lights rounding its boarder, but each time the lights touched they would reverse direction and continue until the made their way back around the circle and again touched. Almost like a ying yang or an infinity symbol.

I never told anyone on post about what I saw. This is the first time I have even said anything about it other then close family.
