Caller was standing on an 800-foot high hill near Watkins Glen with five of his teenage friends. They had just attended a hockey game.
Suddenly, they all saw a "low-flying ball of fire, with a greenish vapor trail" streak across the sky from east to west. The caller estimates that the object covered approximately 110 degrees of arc in about 3 seconds. He thought the tail behind the light might have been "at least a mile long."
