1996-10-01 - Salinas, CANELONES DEPARTMENT - Light

2 brights stars. First 1, then 2. Then none.

UFO happened in Salinas, slightly rural area, Uruguay 1996, just going on dark and on the spare property of mis abuelos. I was wanting to take a photo of this beautiful big bright star that caught my attention (I had grabbed my Olympus wind up camera and walked into the middle of the empty property). On the corner of my eye it would shake around. I thought 'bizarre' and looked up and it went still - but I felt like it was mocking me strangely ?. I lifted my camera to take the photo and it did it again. It would be still but shake around when I held the camera up. At first I thought 'oh, ok, the lens in the camera can't make focus at such a distance' - but it wasn't shaking through my lens, only when I actioned to focus my camera it would shake. A feeling of being mocked was starting to weigh on me. A little perplexed, I tried different settings on the camera and this happened 4-5 times until the last time I took the camera away, it continued to shake around in the high heavens above. Then it would stop and start and move around the sky - do a shake and stop.
On the ground looking up - it was shaking around 2 cm either way but this would have been a huge magnitude in the sky. I looked over to my grandparents place wondering to go over and call for them to come see or are my eyes affected somehow, at the same time I thought I might loose this phenomenon, I'll stay ?. I would look to the ground to make sure my eyes were not playing up but my eye sight and everything was normal except this big bright star. I rubbed my eyes, I patted them. I then looked up and it zoomed left - paused, then zoomed right - then paused. A smaller, colourful one appeared zooming in (bright with reddish / pink-green outer colour (not all the way round, just to two sides) zoom up close to the one I was watching (which was paused at this time), it came from the west, paused, did a shake, paused and took off in a split second. I thought 'ok, I'm not seeing things because now there's 2, the larger one is clearly not shaking and the newer one is. I can't remember where it took off but it zoomed off fast and I didn't want to loose sighting of the bigger one by following or searching for the littler one. Then the one I had been focusing on, zoomed to the south-east a little (20cm - ground measurement), stopped approx 5-10 seconds, shook about as of to say 'bye' I think, then took off south and disappeared. I was left there looking back at where this star initially sat, and why I was there - well, I was there to take a photo of this big bright star' and was now left with nothing. Nothing sat in the place in the sky of where this big bright star was approx 10 - 20 minutes ago. I looked to the south and waited, nothing. I walked back over the fence and told no-one. I printed my photos - and there it is, a shaken star. But I hope I still have it. I can't explain anything else. I know what drove me to pick up my camera, walk over to take a picture of this big bright star, now I walked back with no big bright star in its place in the sky, and baffled to what just happened.
