Saw a hovering craft with lights while hunting on Forest River Colony land. The craft made no sound and flew extremely fast.
This happened many years ago, while stationed at Grand Forks AFB. I was archery hunting on the Forest River colony land. I am not 100% certain of the date and time. I hunted on the colony land frequently. At that time, what is now shown as 36th Avenue on a map was actually not much more than a tractor path. I always parked at the top of the hill above the forest river. The location is North of the colony buildings. I would usually not get back to the truck until after dark. I was loading my gear into the truck and noticed some flashing lights North of my location. At first, I didn't really pay attention because the craft had flashing lights similar to typical aircraft. It was hovering at around 5,000 ft. and my first thought was a Huey from the base. I quickly realized the craft was not making any sound. I watched it for a few minutes and it hovered closer to my location. I cannot remember if the altitude changed any, but i was never able to make out a silhouette or shape of the craft. I could only see the lights. I started to drive east on 36th Avenue to get to the main road. I had the window down and continued to watch the craft as it followed me. 36 Avenue made a 90 degree turn straight south toward the main road near the colony buildings. I was driving very slow and kept watching out the window.
As I got to the main road, the craft started heading toward the direction of the Air Force base as I headed east again. I started to think maybe it was a classified or experimental aircraft, as I had never seen any that were totally silent. After I drove about a mile, the craft suddenly accelerated faster than anything I had ever seen. It was so fast, the lights were streaking in the sky and it left eyesight maybe less than a second. It appeared to gain altitude as a fast as it gained distance. I remember thinking how incredible.... I have no idea what it was, but it made no sound and was faster than any aircraft or rocket I had ever seen to this day. The interesting aspects is that the craft! was abl e to hover. It made no sound at all, and flew extremely fast. I never discussed the incident with anyone back then. I spent a lot of time outdoors and never saw the craft again.
