Bright object in NY 1984
In June, 1984, behind Virginia Rd School, Greenburg, NY, Westchester County, facing south behind the schools gym, it was a very nice evening, an extremely bright, silent fireball/light approached from the South, heading North. There was NO SOUND from this object.
It slowly came to the rear of the school and hovered over us for about 30 sec to a min, shining an unbelievable bright light, almost left no shadows, even at night.
It was at this point we noticed what we thought were American military jets scrambled to intercept this object. These planes approached from the West.
The bright object drifted back to the South and then shot ahead of the jets, headed East, at a rate much faster than the planes, leaving them behind.
The object made a very sharp turn that is not associated with plane movements. There was no contact, no one was able to touch the object. The object was silent but unmistakeable. We were left in shock and talked about it for the rest of the night!
SO: One bright object: 2 planes? But only the first object came close to us and bathed the area with light. The other planes stayed far back as they attempted to close in on this object. The distance from the object to the ground is unknown, possible a few hundred yards to a few hundred feet. It was too bright to tell the distance or the exact shape.
