I am trying to find out who else saw it , or where the other witnesses are
This was around 1980-82 in Point Barrow, Alaska. My dad worked for the Police Dept. and got a call around 10pm that some tourist had seen a UFO near the beach and that they had burned half of their faces off of the reflection from the ice and the UFO. So we hurried in my dad's car and drove South of where it was reported, and a few minutes later, I watched a red sliver of light hover for a few seconds and then take off straight up and disappear. It never made a sound, and moved so fast and like nothing I had ever seen before.
