I believe the sightings happened in summer of 1974. I was an airman stationed at Loring airforce base. The night of the first sighting there was a lot of chatter about a ufo seen over the flight line. From where I was posted I could see nothing but most of the other post reported a ufo over the tower. I was friends with the sargent who kept the blotter for that night and he reported the sightings in the blotter.
When I came off duty that night K-9 was just getting to headquaters. They reported that on the way back from the weapons storage area their dogs went crazy they stopped their truck and followed their dogs into the forrest. They found a large circular area where the brush was crushed down. All of this went into the blotter. The next day when we went to work we were told nothing had happened and 2nd Air Force had the blotter destroyed and my friend was told to make up a new one minus the ufo reports. Soon after I was sent to Texas for further ! training. When I got back to Loring the people there told me that while I was gone there had been many sightings. It was so bad the helicopters where bought in to chase the ufos and the security forces had been issued M60 machine guns with orders to only fire in self defense.
