Unknow origin of bright cane shaped white/yellow light
I was 26 years old when this event happened. It happened in May, June, or July 1974. I was driving through Montana on traveling from Seattle, WA, to Lead, SD. I would have to guess I was east of Billings. My wife and two (2) young sons were in the truck with me. It was somewhere between midnight and 0200 hours. I was the only individual awake. I can remember I was not tired at all. I was in the middle of no-where. (I did most of my long distance traveling at night back then because I can see better.) All of a sudden almost the entire immediate landscape was lit up by an unusually bright artificial cone shaped white/yellow light. I can remember being quite scared as I had never witnessed such an occasion.
I tried to accelerate my truck to get out of the area but it would not go anywhere. The engine was not running, the key was still in the run position, and the headlight were still on. I attempted to restart the vehicle to no avail. By now I was almost in a panic mode because I was not in control of the situation. I lost track of all time and the ability to do anything physical except to try to restart my truck.
When the light disappeared my truck motor was running, it was in drive, and the vehicle started moving. Now I was finally able to wake my wife. She can remember the fear I had in my face. A relative short distance down the road was a café, where I had to stopped for a cup of coffee to calm back down. There were others in the café whom seemed unfazed by what I had witnessed.
I told one of my doctors about this event several years later whom dismissed it as my imagination. This is only the second time I have went public with this. As I will be over 70 early next year I would like to see if it is possible to get some resolution to this incident before I pass on. This is the first time I have attempted to research this. I don't remember my beliefs prior to this incident, but it has made me a confirmed believer in UFOs and ETs. I find within the last six (6) months or more I have a renewed interest in this subject as well as the real possibility we on earth have been influenced through our ancestry by extraterrestrial beings.
If someone knows anything about this event I would certainly like to get some closure.
