A storm was gathering so all beach goers had hurried away. I and another man spotted this UFO and stood watching it transfixed.
The UFO came from the west toward the beach and hovered offshore very close and as it wasn’t dark we could see it clearly. It did have lights and was quite large. It made no noise. We stared at it incredulous- then it sped away, with a blink of the eye it was over Tybee Beach and out of sight. The gentleman standing with me turned to me and said, “Thank God you saw this too!” Wish I had gotten his name but now the storm was upon us and we both ran for shelter. This was in the early seventies but even though the appearance has faded, I know three things: it was quite large, it was soundless, and it instantly moved at a speed faster than anything in our world. An architect on Hilton Head also saw it but he just witnessed it moving across the island from West to East. I am a hospital chaplain and about as sensible, level headed and skeptical by nature as they come. But I clearly saw this and naturally have never forgotten it.
