Three disk like objects over Camels Hump in Huntington Vermont in summer of 1972

I experienced a UFO sighting when I was a little girl in Vermont. Why did I wait until now to tell my
story? I’m 62 and felt if I didn’t do this now, I might not ever write about it! I grew-up on a dairy farm in
the valley of the Green Mountains in Vermont with my 8 brothers and 2 sisters. I was the youngest of
the 3 girls still living at home. My parents and 4-5 boys were still working on the farm.
This happened on July 12, 1972. I was 12 years old and playing with one of my older brothers
in our hand-made sand box. We would spend hours and hours upon hours running our old, metal Tonka
trucks and cars on the hilly tracks. I remember the day and date because I knew if I did, I’d remember it
in the years to come.
It was a hot, clear & sunny day around lunch time. I remember the sun being high above me in the sky.
My mother was preparing lunch in our old, post and beam farmhouse kitchen. I could hear my mom
talking with my 18-year-old brother thru the front door. On hot days and with no AC in Vermont,
we always kept the door open to catch any breeze. This brother had the habit of straddling his
chair while talking to whoever was in the kitchen.
On this day my dad and my other brothers were finishing up their chores and taking a break from haying
in the fields. We had a farm bell on our house, so whenever she needed them, she would ring it.
On this strange day my brother and I were outside playing in the sand box. He had just had ear
surgery and had a white turban-like bandage wrapped around his head. My mother had sent him out to
get some sunshine and play with me because he had been in bed all morning. I recall he still had on his
pajamas. I was quietly playing with my truck and talking with him when I felt a strange feeling on my
neck and upper back. My hair was tied back in a ponytail to keep it our of the way on the farm. It was a
strange, almost electrical vibrating feeling. Starting at my neck, traveling down my back. There was this
weird, humming sound all around me. Almost a buzzing sound, like a swarm of bees. My dad always
told me it was hard or nearly impossible to sneak up behind be because I’d sense someone was there. I
still feel this feeling today if someone is behind me.
I looked up over my right my shoulder and saw three-saucer like objects hovering over Camels Hump.
We lived just at the foothills of the green mountain forest in Huntington, Vermont. The lower trees were
growing taller, but you could still see the upper most, rocky top. As I watched them, I had the feeling like
they were watching us and wondering what we were doing? They were dark grey and metallic. I can
only describe them as two saucer plates put together. They were in a triangular pattern with one on top
and two side-by-side just below the top one. All three looked like they were hovering and spinning
about 500-1,000 ft above the rocky top. I was thinking the sound I heard might have been from the
spinning. It looked like there were windows along the edges. I couldn’t look away as I was watching
them. I didn’t realize I was pointing and screaming. I wasn’t scared, just wanted someone else to see this
other than me. The brother who I was playing with had limited hearing because of his surgery, but told me later he had seen a flash in the sky
when he realized I was upset and where I was pointing to.
My brother, by the front door, heard my screaming and turned his chair to come out on the front porch. I feel when
he moved to see what was happening, his movement made the three disks darted up and leave in a
flash! They went up and took a sharp left and was gone? It happened so quickly! It couldn’t have been more than a few seconds when I first saw them. It felt like they were
observing my brother and I. He said he saw something but couldn’t quite make it out except that
something caught his eye and went behind the mountain and out of sight. I wasn’t the type of sister to make things up.
Seeing me so upset, made my family believe I was telling the truth! I just wish I wasn’t the only one to see them clearly.
It’s been over 50 years since this happened to me. I know what I experienced and it’s still just as clear in
my mind as that day! I have always wondered if being hypnotized would make me re-recall this
childhood experience again. I have spoken to my husband who is convinced I saw something and is very
supported of my feelings. I would do this if it’s a qualified person I’d like my
husband to be with me to validate the experience. Not sure if he would participate but he might be
willing to. We now are retired and living in Florida. I’m just afraid that someone might suggest ideas that
might make me forget what I saw. Is this crazy of me to question this? If I do or don’t do this, I wanted
to validate this experience with this letter which I will keep a copy in my personal records for my family to read in
the future.
I have tried to research if there were any additional sightings in Vermont around this same time, but no
luck so far. I have yet to find any searches I’ve tried on the internet. I do recall seeing in our local
newspaper, the Burlington Free Press an article done sometime in the late 80’s early 90’s. The article
stated someone took a black and white photo of a saucer over one of the back dirt roads in Huntington.
I was in the college or the military at the time, so I don’t know when or who wrote it.
