1971-06-12 - Rowland, NC - Triangle

Triangular shaped with 3 blindingly bright lights gliding silently over my head and onto bypass.

I noticed my backyard lit up at 12:00 midnight while I was watching tv. I ran outside to witness a craft that was silently moving over my backyard. I ran and stood under it blinded by the lights. It was triangular shaped with 3 very bright white lights. There was absolutely no sound. It then slowly moved down the bypass through town. This was no helicopter, balloon or plane. This was many years ago but I remember it like yesterday. My neighbor who was a paramedic also witnessed the sighting. It was by far the strangest thing I have ever witnessed. I think this area was a hot spot during the 70’s for UFO sightings. Another night I witnessed two objects that I assumed were stars dancing around each other in a strange manner that caught my eye while stargazing. This went on for about 5 minutes then one “star” took off in a horizontal path in one direction across the sky very quickly. I turned my head to watch and it disappeared. The other “star” remained jumping around for a few minutes then it too zoomed off across the sky in a horizontal path in the opposite direction moving at an incredible speed.
